The head of police for ports, along with the Western Command, Toyin Agbaminoja, has called upon all divisional police officers and department heads to maintain a strong state of vigilance throughout every port unit to deter unlawful acts, safeguard essential national resources, and guarantee the security of those using the ports, staff members, and the broader community.
Even as Agbaminoja emphasized the importance of DPOs and HODs staying alert and taking initiative, especially with the Command entering the New Year.
The information was shared through a statement released on Wednesday by Isaac Hundeyin, an Assistant Superintendent of Police from the Ports Authority Police under the Western Command in Apapa, Lagos.
As per the declaration, the CP made these remarks during the Command's concluding managerial meeting of the year, as part of continuous initiatives aimed at evaluating operational tasks, enhancing leadership collaboration, and ensuring the command is ready for efficient law enforcement as the year comes to an end.
The gathering, attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, Divisional Police Officials, and Department Heads, served as an opportunity to evaluate the command's effectiveness, examine maritime safety plans, and set strategic goals for the upcoming year.
During her speech, the Commissioner urged all DPOs and HODs "to stay watchful and take initiative, especially as the command moves into the new year. It is essential to keep a strong sense of awareness throughout every port unit to stop illegal actions, safeguard vital national resources, and guarantee the security of those using the ports, staff members, and the broader community. Officials must also enforce rules, boost intelligence-driven law enforcement, improve cooperation between agencies, and support the command's strict stance against improper behavior."
She further assured investors and the general public about the Command's steadfast dedication to marine security, community well-being, and safeguarding Nigeria's harbor areas throughout the holiday season and thereafter.
One of the key moments of the ceremony was the official adornment of the Divisional Police Officer from Roro Port Division, Francis Araunah, as he received promotion to the permanent position of Chief Superintendent of Police.
The Police Chief commended the officer for his thoroughly earned advancement, highlighting that it showcases his devotion, expertise, and unwavering loyalty to his responsibilities.
The Command also organized a farewell event to recognize the departing Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ports Criminal Investigation Department, Amabua Ashe, who has moved to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos.
She praised Amabua Ashe for her exceptional performance, guidance, and efforts in enhancing investigation and operation effectiveness inside the command, and extended good luck for her upcoming nationwide role.
In the same way, the Police Commissioner officially greeted the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ports CID, DCP Folarin Adedeji, urging him to continue from where previous efforts left off and to strengthen intelligence-based inquiries as well as uphold professional standards in the department.
